General tips for the speaking exam. Role-plays Learn all your question words (où, quand etc.) Prepare all the basic structures (Je voudrais, aves-vous etc). Then you can adapt them to the situation you are given. Decide for each role-play if you are using tu or vous and stick to it. Use tu for people your own age and vous for adults or strangers (or groups of friends). Talk Choose a subject you are interested in. Practice it, put it on tape and listen to it. Make brief notes and then try it out with notes only. Use a variety of tenses. Conversation Prepare all the topics Use a variety of tenses Give opinions e. g. j'aime... je dé teste... Extend them if possible e. g. parce-que... (because...) Don't just say oui and non! Answer as fully as you can. Don't worry about telling the truth. If your father is an accountant and you've forgotten the word, say he is a teacher. No one will follow you home to check on the fact! Important Questions Combien de...? how many? Comment...? how?
