Joseph Goebbels's Reich Chamber of Culture controlled every film, book, newspaper, and radio broadcast in Germany. Book burnings, the Volksempfänger radio, Triumph of the Will, the Nuremberg rallies - all were instruments of a propaganda machine designed to make the Nazi state seem inevitable and glorious. Understanding how it worked is central to explaining why so many Germans supported the regime.
