What are you going to do next year? Are you fed up with hearing that question? Well, you could be asked it in your speaking exam! Or, you could hear young people discussing their plans in the listening exams, so you need to know this vocab! Here are some useful phrases to help you get started: Ich werde arbeiten und Geld verdienen I will work and earn money Ich werde in der Schule bleiben I will stay at school Ich werde Abitur in...(name of subject) machen I will do A-Level in...(name of subject) Ich werde an einer anderen Schule weiterlernen I will carry on studying at another school Ich werde...(name of subject) studieren I will study... (name of subject) Ich mö chte... (name of job) werden I would like to be a (name of job) All these phrases, except for the last one, are in the future tense. You use this tense to say what you are going to do tomorrow or next week. It is formed in German by using the correct part of the verb " werden" + the verb of what you are going to do, which is sent to the end of the sentence. For Example: Ich werde Tennis spielen = I will play tennis. (play is what you will do, so that goes to the end of the sentence) In the exercise below are examples of other useful phrases. Drag the four words into the spaces and then mark your answer before pressing " next question". /**/ What would you like to do? Not only may you be asked what you will be doing, you could also be asked what you would like to do. You used the future tense when saying what you will be doing. To say what you would do, you use the conditional tense. If you're O. K. on the future tense, then it's a piece of cake! Instead of saying " Ich werde", you say " Ich wü rde" and the verb of what you would like to do goes to the end of the sentence. For Example: I would like to travel = Ich wü rde gern reisen. You could also say, " Ich mö chte reisen", but using the conditional as well adds variety to your spoken and written work. Here are some phrases that may come in useful: Ich wü rde gern viel Geld verdienen earn lots of money im Ausland arbeiten work abroad Ich mö chte viel Verantwortung haben have lots of responsibility eine interessante Arbeit finden find an interesting job viel Abwechslung haben have lots of variety viel Urlaub haben have lots of holiday auf die Uni gehen go to university im Freien arbeiten work in the open air in einem Bü ro arbeiten work in an office im Tourismus arbeiten work in tourism mit Tieren arbeiten work with animals kü nstlerisch arbeiten work artistically mit meinen Hä nden arbeiten work with my hands mit Sport und Fitness zu tun haben do something with sport and fitness
